Frank Docherty is recognised as one of Scotland's leading career coaches. He has specialised in career consultancy for 20 years.

He provides executives and senior management with the tools - insight, awareness, technique - and the confidence to improve their performance levels.

He has helped many leading UK organisations to solve the change problems they repeatedly face as they strive to improve their companies and their people.

Since forming Career Associates in 1997, he has forged together a unique network of professional consultants and associates, all committed to support each individual to achieve the goals they set for themselves and for their career to prosper.

John D Taylor – Director of Consulting

Following a career in the Financial Services sector, John moved into career management consultancy in 1993.

At Lloyds TSB, he held posts within Audit and Inspection, Retail Operations and Network Support before specialising in Human Resources.

In his role as Director of Consulting, and as a respected and experienced consultant in his own right, John is responsible for the provision of high quality personal support to Career Associates clients.

Dr Jack Boyle – Director of Psychology

A highly experienced Chartered Psychologist, Dr Jack Boyle is also an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.

He entered private practice in 1989, having previously worked as a psychologist with Strathclyde Regional Council. He has delivered lectures to Glasgow, Stirling, Caledonian and Strathclyde Universities and was an Honorary Lecturer at the latter.

Supervises all psychological support to clients of Career Associates, providing a valuable foundation for those seeking renewed career focus.

Brendan Docherty – Operations Director

Brendan holds a Post-graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching from Strathclyde University Business School and is a Licensed Practitioner in NLP. His approach as an Executive Coach is to provide a reflective, independent, questioning and supportive stimulus to people in senior positions to allow them to pursue their aims with much greater success.

As a Director of Career Associates, the leading Scottish-headquartered Coaching and Outplacement provider, he has taken responsibility for the design and delivery of many of the company's large-scale projects. He spent 22 years recruiting and leading the most successful teams in motor retailing and worked across Scotland managing the performance of the largest vehicle outlets. His original focus on sales and marketing was augmented by an increasing interest in how the potential of teams and individuals could be maximised while developing truly customer-focused environments. He provides guest lecture expertise within Strathclyde Business School, plays the saxophone badly and is a board member of the inclusive arts charity, Giant Productions.

Diane Peebles – Senior Consultant

Diane is an experienced consultant, specialising particularly in people development and executive coaching. After many years in generalist HR, she focused on management development and was ultimately responsible for progressing the careers of managers within a major division of Scottish & Newcastle.

An experienced business coach, Diane has worked with clients from many major organisations across Scotland, assisting executives and senior managers up to board level.

A business studies honours graduate from Edinburgh University, Diane is also a graduate member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

David B Halkerston – Consultant

A graduate of Edinburgh University, David began his career in the insurance industry, including 10 years in Canada working with clients in major Canadian and American businesses.

He returned to Scotland in 1985 to work with a large international management consultancy specialising in HR issues, later joining Britannia Life in Glasgow as Head of Human Resources. Relocated to London in 1995, he joined an HR consultancy and since 1999 has worked independently and as a Senior Consultant with Career Associates.

His experience has encompassed individual outplacement and career coaching and advice, especially at senior levels.

Ailie B Laurie – Consultant

Having graduated from St Andrews University, Ailie spent eleven years as a Recruitment Consultant dealing with a wide range of sectors and disciplines. This proved to be a useful grounding for her move into career management where she has been practising for the last fifteen years. In this capacity she has provided career support for a large number of individuals at all stages of their career on behalf of Career Associates.

Jenny Mouncer - Consultant

A facilitation & HR professional with direct commercial experience and proven people development skills, Jenny has worked with a wide variety of companies and individuals.

Recent projects include:

  • Facilitation on an open (multi-company) programme working with individuals developing management and personal skills.
  • Delivery of Career Masterclass workshops
  • One-to-one outplacement coaching
  • Facilitating motivational and visual planning workshops.

Prior to embarking on her career in consultancy, Jenny occupied line management and HR roles with Marks & Spencer plc, moving from her role as HR Manager with Coca Cola and Schweppes Beverages Ltd.

Rorrie Hiles - Professional Presentation Coach

As a professional presentation coach, Rorrie has honed her teaching and coaching skills specifically for the needs of industry and commerce. Initially trained in drama and music at Liverpool, she went on to gain her post graduate diploma in voice studies at London's Central School of Speech and Drama in 1993.. She brings to her work a wealth of experience as perfomer, drama worker, writer, director and musician in theatre, coupled with 18 years' teaching experience in further education. She is a member of the Voice Care Network, UK.

Kate Jones – Career Coach

David Adams MA (Oxon), FRSA - Senior Consultant

David gives a reflective, independent, questioning and supportive stimulus to people in top jobs, so they can pursue their aims with much greater success. When senior people discuss business issues, demands, challenges, and their context, with an experienced and inquiring coach, they can take the strategic, operational and practical aspects into a fuller, more rounded, less pressured perspective. Their actions gain greater subtlety, elegance of purpose; they are more creative and adroit; and they deliver far greater value.

He uses the experience and training of a long, diversified career: as an operational manager and project director; as a management consultant in strategy, human resources, and executive and non-executive director search. He trains with SoL Scotland (Society for Organisational Learning); with DiaLogos; with the Partnership for Whole Systems Transformation; with the Dolphinton Dialogue Group; with AMED; and with many talented leadership and strategy practitioners in a lively, collaborative network.

He holds and MA from Oriel College, Oxford, is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a member of the Devonshire House Management Club, a member of the Institute of Directors, and of Oxford Business Alumni at the Said Business School.
